About Jon Heidtke ’81
Widely recognized as one of the Southwest’s leading sports executives, Jon Heidtke is Founder/CEO of Heidtke Sports Entertainment (HSE), as well as a professor of practice in the Sports Management Program at Texas A&M University. From 2016 to 2019, Mr. Heidtke served as Senior Vice President for Learfield/ IMG College Sports. Before joining Learfied as Senior Vice President of Texas A&M Ventures in 2016, Mr. Heidtke was Senior Vice President and General Manager of FOX Sports Southwest, FOX Sports Oklahoma and FOX Sports New Orleans. The networks are part of the vast FOX Sports television family and affiliates of FSN, which consisted of 22 regional sports networks from coast-to-coast specializing in home team coverage. In his 27 plus years at helm of FSSW, Heidtke helped grow the network from its humble beginnings as HSE, to one of the largest RSN’s in the country serving over 10 million television homes in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.
Mr. Heidtke’s career as a sports television executive started in 1983 as an eastern regional account executive for Sports Time, a regional sports network launched in St. Louis by Anheuser-Busch. He began his television career in June 1981 as a sports anchor/reporter for KBTX-TV in Bryan, Texas. In 1983 he was the radio play-by-play voice of the Texas League champion Beaumont Golden Gators minor league baseball team.
A native of Amarillo, Texas, Mr. Heidtke holds a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism from Texas A&M University. He resides in Bryan, Texas, and has three children. Health (Class of ’16) and twins Hannah and Hunter (both Class of ’18).
