Lieutenant General James W. Bierman Jr.

47th Commandant of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets

Lieutenant General James W. Bierman Jr. currently serves as the 47th Commandant of the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets, assuming the role in July of 2025 following a distinguished 38-year career in the United States Marine Corps. A native of Camp Lejeune, he was commissioned from the Virginia Military Institute in 1987.

Throughout his decorated military career, he commanded at every level, leading the 1st Battalion, 3d Marines in combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and later serving as the Commanding General of the 3d Marine Division and the III Marine Expeditionary Force in Japan. Upon his military retirement in July 2025, he assumed duties as the 47th Commandant of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University. He is married to the former Beth Lynne Cantu, and they have five children and one granddaughter.

General Bierman will share an inside look at a future vision of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. Get ready for a dynamic update on the growth of the Quad, strategic leadership initiatives, and how the Corps continue to be the "Keepers of the Spirit" & "Guardians of Tradition".
